Understanding Nationalism Today: A Conversation with Erika Harris

A discussion on the book 'The Dilemma of Nationalism in Central and Eastern Europe' by Professor Erika hosted by Foreign Policy Forum and project POD-RUKOM (FPZG) examining how contemporary nationalism is shaping international relations in Central and East Europe.

A timely analysis of how Central and Eastern European nations work to reclaim their political and national identities after decades of communist rule. This disscussion will reveal the historical, cultural and political factors that make nationalism particularly salient in the region, examining its various manifestations and implications.

Foreign Policy Forum, in partnership with the project “Politika, društvo i komunikacija u Jugoistočnoj Europi” (POD-RUKOM), invites you to a discussion on the book ‘The Dilemma of Nationalism in Central and Eastern Europe’ by Professor Erika Harris (Bristol University Press, 2026).

 

The event will feature Professor Erika Harris (University of Liverpool), Professor Dejan Jović (Foreign Policy Forum), and Dr Sven Milekić (University of Rijeka, Center for Holokaust and Genocide Research in Southeast Europe), who will reflect on the key themes of the book and their relevance for contemporary political developments in the region.

 

The discussion will take place on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, from 15:00 to 16:30 at the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb (Lepušićeva 6).
